Sakai Kokodo is a traditional store that inherits the lineage of the Sakai Collection, which is currently run by the Japan Ukiyo-e Museum Foundation.

The Sakai Collection was amassed over 200 years by the Sakai family, who are originally from Matsumoto City, Nagano Prefecture. It contains 100,000 pieces of ukiyo-e prints, hand-painted hanging scrolls, wall and screen paintings, antique bookcases, and modern prints, and the quality of the collection continues to be highly praised by experts, scholars, and enthusiasts from around the world.
